How does FCC calculate Compensation for a delay claim?
Each week passengers keep asking if they have been short changed over a recent Repay claim.
This is how it works:
This is how it works:
Passenger 1Is travelling from Leagrave to St Pancras using an Annual season ticket.
Due to no drivers available their scheduled train was cancelled causing a 32min delay. Passenger 1 is entitled to a 50% refund for the single part of the journey. Currently an Annual season ticket costs £3,400. FCC will divide £3,400 into 52 weeks giving £65.38 Now divide £65.38 into 5 days = £13.08 As far as FCC is concerned £13.08 is the RETURN cost for a season ticket holder. Therefore you must half the £13.08 to calculate the single value price. As the delay is more than 30mins and no more than 59mins a 50% refund of £6.54 will be offered. Compensation offered: £3.27 |
Passenger 2Is travelling from Leagrave to St Pancras using an anytime return ticket.
Due to no drivers available their scheduled train was cancelled causing a 32min delay. Passenger 2 is now entitled to a 50% refund for the single part of the journey. Currently an Anytime (Peak hour) return ticket costs £24.90 Therefore you must half £24.90 to give you the single value price. As the delay is more than 30mins and no more than 59mins a 50% refund of £12.45 will be offered. Compensation offered: £6.22 |
Passenger #2 who rarely uses FCC will receive far more money compared to Passenger #1 who uses FCC every day! fair system?
