Replacement Bus Service
A Rail replacement buses are required when one or more of these criteria are met:
- No service for more than 1 hour to a station;
- Likeihood of significant congestion and overcrowding; and
- No suitable alternative scheduled service.
It will normally take at least an hour before the first bus is available for customer service. In the meantime customers should be advised to use alternative scheduled transport services eg. LU, other TOCs, buses, where available.
FCC will try to provide a bus as close to the scheduled cancelled train service as possible. FRS will also consider whether taxis could provide a more effective service solution.
Our contractor, FRS, will ensure that they source adequate buses to service FCC’s requirements. They shall also confirm that arrangements are in place at least 2 weeks in advance, following the agreed procedures laid down in the contract. This is attached as Appendix A. At stations with low footfall taxis may be arranged instead.

As part of the policy staff are requested to park considerately, particularly
where there isn’t designated staff parking, leaving the premium car park spaces
free for customers.
